Keith Olbermann: We Need To Help Donald Trump Self-Destruct

Olbermann points to a litany of signs in the press that the president is becoming disturbingly obsessed with the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the presidential election and possible ties between that country and Trumps campaign. Trump is incessantly watching TV news about the investigation and yelling at television sets in the White House, convinced hes the target of a conspiracy, the Associated Press has reported. Trump has also been contradicting himself with head-spinning speed. The president has insisted repeatedly that hes not under investigation then tweets that he is. (His personal attorney Jay Sekulow seemed to say in [...]

Patagonia’s CEO Is Ready To Lead The Corporate Resistance To Trump

NEW YORK On a cloudy May morning, Rose Marcario, the chief executive of outdoor retailer Patagonia, stared out a second-story window of a Manhattan restaurant, watching construction workers jackhammer the street below. The workers made her think of her grandfather, an Italian immigrant who, after making it through Ellis Island in the 1920s, got his first job digging the streets of this city. He earned 10 cents a day and had to bring his own shovel. People regularly spat at him and sneered at his broken English. Hed tell me, I didnt mind that, because I knew that someday in [...]

In a statement read out on the evening news, the Communist government said Trump was resorting to coercive methods of the past that hurt the Cuban people and prevented economic development but would not weaken the revolution. The Cuban government denounces the new measures hardening the blockade that are destined to fail ... and that will not achieve their aim of weakening the revolution, Havana said. He said he based the measures largely on human rights grounds, calling on Cuba to release political prisoners and hold free and fair elections. We have serious worries about the respect and guarantee of [...]

Trump phoned James Ooker Eskridge, the mayor of Tangier, Virginia, on Monday, a few days after CNN aired a story about the impacts of climate change on the island in the middle of the bay, The Daily Times in Salisbury, Maryland, reports. Its a bold claim, even for a longtime climate-change nonbeliever who has dismissed the phenomenon as hoax. Mayor and waterman James Eskridge sets out to check his crab traps during the early morning in Tangier, Virginia, May 16, 2017, where climate change and rising sea levels threaten the inhabitants of the slowly sinking island. CNN highlighted the voting [...]

Earth To Ivank Trumpa: Your Dad Invented Vicious

It is hard, and theres a level of viciousness that I was not expecting, the first daughter said in an interview on Fox & Friends Monday. But this isnt supposed to be easy, she added bravely, speculating that rough politics should be expected because her father is so transformative. The Washington Post deadpanned: Irony is dead. One of the most stinging criticisms of Ivankas lament came from John Podhoretz, columnist in the usually Trump-friendly New York Post, who called the first daughter a filthy liar in a tweet for saying she was shocked by ugly attacks in politics. Perez Hilton [...]

Still-Blinking Beached Humpback Whale Euthanized After Failed Rescue

A beached juvenile humpback whale has been euthanized in Australia despite a heroic effort by scores of volunteers to save it. Even as experts were deciding whether to euthanize the animal, the whale was blinking, watching the humans around it and feebly moving its flippers. Officials told The Guardian they have no idea why the whale beached at Sawtell Beach on Australias northeast coast but said inexperience could have been a factor. This may have been the yearlings first migration on its own. Due to rough waters, rescuers determined that it was too dangerous for the boat to try to [...]
