Trump called on NFL owners to fire players who kneel or otherwise protest during the national anthem and encouraged fans to boycott the league. SEE ALSO: Why Russia hasn’t successfully screwed with Germany’s election — yet “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. The Chicago Cubs visited Trump at the White House, but other teams refuse to stay at his hotels.Image: Mark Wilson/Getty Images President Trump has been riling up pro athletes with disinvitations to the White House and attacks on police brutality protests. Now some teams are hitting back where it hurts: his wallet. Pro sports teams from the NBA, MLB, and NHL have stopped staying at Trump-owned hotels. The Washington Post reached out to all teams in those three leagues and the NFL (that’s 123 teams altogether) and found at least 16 no longer stay at Trump hotels while on the […]

Image: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images It’s every social media manager’s worst nightmare.  Dan Scavino Jr., who runs social media for President Donald Trump, accidentally tweeted out an attack on NBC News from both his account as well as Trump’s account on Wednesday.  Scavino quickly deleted the tweet. The tweet on Trump’s account is still up. I don’t think Trump did this tweet pic.twitter.com/HXZHPr6Nls — Joe Perticone (@JoePerticone) October 4, 2017 The error provides a glimpse behind the scenes of how Trump’s Twitter account is run. It has been generally assumed that Trump sends most of his own tweets.  Trump may have […]

How to kill your marketing and profit from its demise

Times Square at duskImage: Getty Images The authors of “Killing Marketing” say if you don’t evolve, you’ll die “Marketing and innovation produce results,” wrote Peter Drucker, “all the rest are costs.”  Sadly, in a world where over half of all digital advertising—an industry expected to hit $75.6 billion by the close of 2017—won’t be seen by an actual human… that assessment no longer stands. At least not when it comes to marketing. The symptoms are everywhere. Ad blockers, fake traffic, and bots (oh my). Toss in plummeting consumer trust and the skyrocketing cost of getting your message seen and, apologies […]

SEE ALSO: Bad news for literally anyone with a credit card: there’s a good chance you just got hacked The complaint accuses Equifax of negligence in protecting consumer data, arguing the company chose to skimp on costs rather than take adequate technical measures that might have thwarted hackers. “Equifax knew and should have known that failure to maintain adequate […]

Trump to Puerto Rico: Show us the money

Image: Getty Images With Puerto Rico in a worsening humanitarian crisis, President Donald Trump continues to hold the U.S. territory’s debt over its head. It is difficult to fathom just how irresponsible and entirely beside the point Puerto Rico’s debt is when it comes to its current situation. Puerto Ricans are Americans, just like the people in parts of Texas and Florida that the government is helping after two other major hurricanes this season.  Yet on Friday, Trump doubled down on holding disaster aid hostage to the U.S. territory’s debts, which total about $70 billion.. “Ultimately, the government of Puerto […]

Taking a knee during the national anthem is upsetting some DirecTV customers.Image: Patrick Smith/Getty Images) Ignorance is bliss, especially when it comes to free speech at football games.  That’s what Trump supporters and other football fans who can’t handle sports activism seem to think. For the football fans who claim they are bothered seeing athletes standing up (or rather, kneeling) for the right to protest, DirecTV is caving with refunds to their sports package, the Wall Street Journal reported.
