SEE ALSO: The 1982 ‘Blade Runner’ film vs. the 1968 novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep’ Army of One is only coming out in the Asian country a year after its U.S. debut, and its Japanese title translates more accurately to “Bin Laden is My Prey.”

NYT reader perfectly explains why women didn’t speak up about Harvey Weinstein

Harvey Weinstein.Image: Getty Images One of the counter-arguments in the whole Harvey Weinstein saga that keeps seeping through social media as more celebrities speak up against the disgraced Hollywood producer is: why didn’t these women come forward years ago? Why not before the New York Times investigation and the public outcry that followed?  SEE ALSO: Georgina Chapman leaves husband Harvey Weinstein with a strong statement Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow were among the heavyweights who on Tuesday alleged the movie mogul sexually harassed them over the years, The New York Times reported. An 8-bit Harrison Ford hunts for fugitives in this ‘Blade Runner’ recreation

Ryan Gosling's "I'm in another masterpiece" look.Image: warner bros. There’s something uncanny about the way Warner Bros. is handling critics and press for Blade Runner: 2049. I’ve seen this weirdness before — and reading the tea leaves, I’d say we may very well have a modern classic on our hands here. But there are also reasons to believe the sequel to the sci-fi touchstone is a replicant of the 1982 original: A cult hit that’s a huge with fanboys and film geeks, but severely bores moviegoers and flops at the box office. The 3 things you need to get the most out of the masterpiece that is ‘Blade Runner 2049’

I like records.Image: Warner Bros. Blade Runner 2049 is a sci-fi symphony. Everything works together, thoughtfully, intricately and beautifully. Story, script, score, characters, ideas, sound design, visuals — oh my stars, those visuals — all in perfect complement, sparking off showers of greatness to blind the sum of these parts. Denis Villeneuve has allowed himself a luxurious 2 hours, 44 minutes to revisit the Ridley Scott cult classic, but not a frame or beat is extraneous or out of place. Even Villeneuve’s constant interface with the 1982 original Blade Runner is harmonious, heartbreaking and additive. My god, I can’t believe […]

‘Star Trek Discovery’ boldly goes where no other Trek series has gone before. Stick with it.

Sonequa Martin-Green stars in an inspired reboot of the Trek franchise.Image: cbs I’ve lost count of the number of times my fellow nerds have rolled their eyes at the ongoing delay and behind-the-scenes drama of Star Trek Discovery. The show’s launch date slipped by 9 months; showrunner Bryan Fuller departed under unusual circumstances; CBS decided to screen it only on its $6-a-month All Access streaming service, greatly limiting the potential audience.  I can’t speak to whether consumers will flock to All Access for this one show. But having seen the first three episodes, I can attest to the quality of […]

‘Game of Thrones’ will shoot many Season 8 endings because no one is to be trusted

'I won't tell if you won't.'Image: HBO Who can be trusted on a Game of Thrones set? No one. The answer is no one. Not the cast, not the crew, and certainly not the locals. And so as production of the final season approaches, let it be known that Game of Thrones will shoot many endings, maybe three, maybe five, probably more — upholding a Hollywood tradition of spoiler-proofing a TV narrative outcome with too much riding on it not to. On Oct. 7, for one day only, McDonald’s will let all comers sample a bit of that sweet, sweet Szechuan sauce.
